It’s amazing what some beer nerds can accomplish with a little creativity and a welding torch. Weathering the occasional catastrophic beer flood, imploding tanks, and a few address changes, we’ve taken it all in stride. We’ve always kept it unconventional in all our approaches to craft brewing, malting, and distilling as we constantly explore the craft beer frontier guided by unbridled creativity and unwavering attention to quality. Certified beer nerds! 

Île Sauvage is French for “Wild Island” and is a dual reference to the wilderness of Vancouver Island and our main focus on Belgian-style wild ales and sour beers. We make use of Kveik, Lactobacillus, and Brettanomyces fermentations, as well as secondary fermentations with fruit.
Our brewery consists of a combination of stainless steel tanks and an assortment of oak-ageing vessels. We offer a number of beers produced using sour worting methods, but we also release long-term blended, oak-aged sour beers.
Our main goal as a brewery is to release beers that excite us and our palates; therefore, a lot of the beers make use of fermentation-derived flavours, dry-hopping, and local fruit refermentations.

Celebrate Great Canadian Beer Fest's 30th anniversary! Featuring 50+ Canadian craft breweries, the 30th annual edition of Canada’s oldest beer festival returns September 6th and 7th. GCBF showcases breweries from several regions of Canada, including the Maritimes, Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, the Yukon, and Western Canada. Join us at Topaz Park on Friday, September 6th from 4-9 pm and Saturday, September 7th from 12-5 pm!

Our beer is inspired by centuries of European brewing tradition and propelled forward by Canadian passion and creativity. Our beautiful German brewhaus allows us to implement the most challenging brew methods into our processes from step-mashes to decoctions. These methods are what give our beer unmatched balance and depth. The newest and most exciting addition to the brewery is our barrel-aged sour program.
